Fruit Juice...Soda's Evil Twin?

How many of you give your children juice on a daily basis...and even more, several cups a day?  If you said Yes, would you consider giving your children a soda a day?  Society has led us to believe that because the word fruit is on the label it must be good and good for you.  However, most fruit drinks given to kids are pure sugar-water and contain next to no real juice.  Have you ever really looked at the label and saw how many grams of sugar are in that juice. Or noticed that it's loaded with high-fructose corn syrup.  The only true healthy juices are those that are freshly squeezed.  So we ask you, are fruit drinks really healthier than soda or are they really Soda's Evil Twin.  Most of us at Trust your gut! are mothers so we understand the dilemma.  But a much healthier, less expensive choice is water.  I say less expensive because you need a good filtration system, but what's more convenient than a drink that comes right out of your faucet.  Our bodies crave water for hydration so it only makes sense that we make sure our kids are drinking plenty of water too.  You are not depriving your children by refusing to give them sugary drinks all day, you're helping to keep them healthy and what's more important than that!  Stay tuned for a post regarding water filters.
